The practice has been recently rebranded following its expansion as The Psychology Place and a move to dedicated full time premises, but the clinic itself has been up and running since 2012 with myself as Clinical Director since that time.

To tell you a bit about my credentials, I have been a qualified Clinical Psychologist since 2009 (after 6 years of training to Doctorate level) and have worked in clinical psychology settings in the NHS since 2006. I have additional qualification as an Accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner and I am also an Accredited Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner (having been using EMDR since 2009).

I have experience in working in a variety of NHS settings including forensic mental health, learning disabilities, adult mental health inpatient services and a variety of adult and child community mental health settings. I have held senior clinical positions in both Adult and Child NHS mental health services.

My first qualified NHS post began in 2009 in a complex PTSD / post-traumatic stress disorder service for adults offering assessment and therapy – this included a wide range of client groups including ex-military, asylum seekers and refugees, victims of domestic violence, birth trauma and child sexual abuse.

My last NHS post was as Clinical Lead and Service Manager for a Looked After Children Team in a CAMHS setting. In this post I spent a lot of time working closely with foster carers, residential home staff and social workers to build trauma and attachment-informed interventions and care for children and young people in the Looked After System. This included work with adoptive parents also on occasion.

Since 2012 I have also been in private practice and have since this time been building a Clinical Psychology Practice incorporating a range of services for adults, children and young people and also Expert Witness Services.

As the practice grew, in 2019 I decided it was time to dedicate myself full time and give this my full attention, and we expanded to include a range of services to meet the needs and demands of the local population.

Our team and range of services is set to keep to growing and I feel privileged to be able to use my knowledge and expertise as a Clinical Psychologist to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of the clients of The Psychology Place and further afield such as organisations, schools and social services provision for example.

With a professional set up and a dedicated premises to offer you a relaxed and comfortable setting – we hope The Psychology Place can be somewhere you can feel at ease and be safe in the knowledge you are receiving a high quality service from trained professionals.
